About Mischele Maglothin

Welcome.  So, you’re thinking about counseling.  I am not sure what you may be experiencing to bring you searching but I imagine you would like to at the least feel better or have some relief of some sort. You may be thinking that if you go to counseling it means you are broken or wrong or weak or whatever it is you may believe.  But what if it’s not?  What if it doesn’t mean that all?  What if it actually means you just forgot who you are and how to be you?  What if all those things you think are a wrongness are actually a strongness just waiting to be accessed?  What if that which you see as a weakness is also one of your greatest gifts waiting to be revealed?  What if those feelings of anxiety or anger or depression are telling you something that if you could decipher it would help them lessen or diminish? I’m not making any promises but what if something else is possible? Would it make you want to figure things out in a different way?  Would you be interested in looking at and for the possibilities rather than staying focused on the problems?  What if you could find a way to step away from the trauma and the drama and into a life filled with more ease, joy and peace?  Would you be interested?

If any of this sounds appealing or enticing to you then I might be the counselor for you.  Even if you think it’s impossible to have a life that includes joy, ease, and peace or whatever else, I might be the counselor for you.  I don’t think we are broken, wounded maybe, but not broken.  I think we have forgotten who we are or who we want to be, through no fault of our own, by the way.  We may have also forgotten our beings’ innate ability to heal, recover or remember. When you work with me, we’ll take a holistic approach to figuring stuff out and to see what it would take for you to be more of who you really are.  So, that means we will look at the symptoms in your life but also what might be causing those symptoms.  We’ll also look at what happened to you rather than what’s wrong with you.  Doesn’t that feel better than feeling like you’re all screwed up?

I may not be your typical counselor.  I like to think outside the box and frequently wonder “what’s right about this that I’m not getting” in any given situation.  I especially love energy work whether it’s used for healing or just in how it impacts our daily lives.

I am a veteran and former military spouse.  Being associated with the military has blessed me, taught me and allowed me to have exposure to many interesting situations. These experiences, my insatiable curiosity and my willingness to perceive things differently have helped to sculpt and mold my strengths-based, solution-focused, empathetic, energetic and holistic approach. I enjoy working with people from all walks of life. I see teens, young adults, older adults, and very wise adults.

If you do decide to see me as your therapist/guide don’t be surprised if I add elements of laughter and play.  Counseling doesn’t have to be all seriousness, teary eyes, snot noses and sadness.  It can feel like putting on your favorite pair of jeans, sipping a warm cup of coffee, enjoying a beautiful sunset or my personal favorite jet skiing with a grin so big you don’t think your face will ever go back to normal.  Laughter heals.  Tears heal.  Being heard (truly heard) heals.  I wonder what else works for you?
